Covering up

Once upon a time, I thought you had to be totally serious to be taken seriously in the business world.

I had a wardrobe of serious clothes and invested in a seriously shiny black briefcase.

I was careful to project the most professional – and serious - of images.

Then one day, I put on my crisp white shirt, and realised something was missing.

Me.

I was hiding my personality.

Covering up my quirks. (Yes, quirky is good!).

Squashing my stories.

💫 Yes, we can infuse our communication with colour and creativity.

💫 Yes, we can be playful – and professional.

💫 And yes, we can still be taken seriously.

Of course, there are times when we need to be serious.

But we can better shape the business world simply by being ourselves.

How can you show up as yourself today?
