Speaking up as an introvert

Can you be an introvert – and a leader?

I've been to my share of parties and pop concerts.

But there always came a point in the evening – well before the end - when I stopped enjoying them.

I used to wonder if there was something wrong with me.

Then there’s that other ‘p’ I didn’t enjoy: public speaking.

I would turn into a rabbit in the headlights, my heart trying to pound its way out of my body.

What changed that?

One major milestone was discovering I’m an introvert.

For quiet people, being in the spotlight is extra stressful. Being aware of that was a relief.

The other life-changer was the journey I travelled on to be comfortable – even excited! - about speaking in public.

For the connection it sparks.

The opportunity to help others grow.

And to make my own voice heard.

If we want to get our message across and make that difference… there’s a good chance we’ll have to step into the spotlight.

And there are ways of making that step more smoothly, with a lighter heart.

Think: Preparation. Purpose. Presence.

No, leadership and introversion are not a paradox.

When you speak in public, are you…

Connecting to who you are – your passions, stories, insights and ideas?

Changing minds, and moving hearts?

Are you speaking up as a leader?

If not, get in touch for a discovery chat 😊
